Steven D. Bartelstone is counsel to the firm's business, corporate, and commercial law and bankruptcy and reorganization groups. He brings to the firm 28 years of experience in private practice and in the legal representation of a Fortune 500 Company, Coleco Industries, Inc. As Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Coleco, he was responsible for and directed all of the legal activities of the company and its U.S. and foreign subsidiaries. While at Coleco, he negotiated and structured numerous corporate and commercial financing transactions nationally and internationally. These financing transactions, which exceeded $1 billion in the aggregate, included asset-based revolving credit facilities, structured accounts receivable financing programs, and public and private placements of debt and equity. He represented and guided the company through several major acquisitions and divestitures, the organization of its international operating subsidiaries and in the acquisition and licensing of major products.
In May 1989 Mr. Bartelstone returned to our firm where he had spent 13 years prior to joining Coleco. Since joining the firm he has represented numerous entrepreneurial companies on corporate matters, leveraged debt transactions, private and public offerings of securities, balance sheet restructurings and venture capital transactions. In addition, he has an active practice representing companies in Chapter 11 reorganizations.
