Steven J. Meis is counsel in the firm's real estate and land use practice group, as well as its business, corporate and commercial law group. He brings over 25 years of experience representing clients in all aspects of commercial real estate, including the acquisition, financing, construction, leasing and sale of commercial properties. He has extensive experience with the development of commercial properties, including retail, residential and industrial projects. He has also represented some of the largest securitized and life insurance lenders in the industry on commercial loans across the country. Mr. Meis also regularly represents privately held businesses in connection with various matters including acquisitions and sales.
Mr. Meis is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and the Real Estate Finance Association
Prior to joining Rogin Nassau, Mr. Meis was a member of the law firm of Kroll, McNamara, Evans & Delehanty, LLP. He has also been an inside counsel (seconded attorney) with Shawmut Bank (now Bank of America), where he represented a loan workout group, providing strategy and analysis on an extensive portfolio of distressed loans. Mr. Meis started his legal career in Hartford with the law firm of Leventhal, Krasow & Roos, P.C.
Mr. Meis is a member of the Board of Directors for WHY Outreach, Inc., whose goal is to bring the benefits of yoga to underserved and disadvantaged populations. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Sonia Plumb Dance Company, and was formerly on the Board of Directors for the Hartford Habitat ReStore Project. He is also a member of the Troop Committee for Troop 146 of the Boy Scouts of America. He lives in West Hartford.
