Rogin Nassau recently won a class certification motion allowing it to proceed as class counsel on behalf of a class of over 30,000 State of Connecticut employees and retirees. The class members were covered by health insurance policies issued by Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield at the time of that company’s conversion from a mutual insurance company to a stock company. By certifying the class, the Connecticut Superior Court ruled that all of the State employees and retirees with Anthem insurance from June 18 through November 2, 2001 could proceed together, in one lawsuit, to attempt to recover from Anthem the demutualization proceeds that should have been paid to them.
